An affordable, up-cycled buoyancy vest that can be hand made by the intended wearer using common household waste: plastic bottles and rice sacks. They are quick and easy to make, and require minimum sewing expertise. As a result, the buoyancy vests provide much needed safety equipment at a low cost for the users.
To provide fishing communities with access to the buoyancy vests, we provide our production manuals to partners operating within fishing communities. Our partners run a series of workshops that are free to attend, in which a facilitator guides attendees through the steps of making a buoyancy vest using the materials required.
This product is intended for fishers living and working in remote, impoverished communities. If you would like to know more about this product or would like to enquire about being one of our partners, please contact us.
We are currently preparing to start manufacturing high-quality, ISO certified life jackets locally in East Africa. The use of local materials and tailors as well as local manufacture and distribution within East Africa means that our life jackets can be low-cost whilst also top quality. With this new venture, we aim to provide marine safety equipment to all who use Africa's waters.
